September 9 – Gary Kangas, a Hubbardston historian, has written the History of Hubbardston through the Images of America series at Acadia Publishing. He has also created several film documentaries about the town, and filmed the Westminster 250th anniversary parade. He will show examples of his film documentaries, discuss unique stories of Hubbardston’s history (Gardner’s neighbor to the south), and have copies of his book available for sale.Wine and cheese reception from 6-7 p.m.Video and Lecture 7-8 p.m. Members free, non-members $3.00.

October 4 – Annual Bridge Party. At 1 p.m. the card play will begin. Sumptuous desserts will be served at 3 p.m. To reserve your table call 978-632-3277.
Oct. 6 – Dec. 31 Exhibition of Angels. The collection of these iconic Christmas symbols grew from just a few to over 400 as a result of one woman’s fascination with the seemingly infinite number and variety of interpretations from all over the world, from the whimsical to the sacred. Museum hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

 

October 14 – Al Rome of the Red Apple Farm, Phillipston. The Red Apple Farm has been owned and tended by the Rose family for four generations. Al will discuss the things that make his farm unique including the variety of apples his orchard produces, cider making and many other interesting activities that take place at the farm during fall months.
Wine and cheese reception from 6-7 p.m. Lecture 7-8 p.m. Members free, non-members $3.00.
November 4 – Veteran’s Round Table. Alan Dernalowicz will again return as the moderator of the popular speaking program that connects military veterans from World War 2, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf and the present wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The event will once again be held at the Gardner VFW Post on West Street. Panel discussion 7-8:30 p.m. Free program.

The November 9 Tree Kickoff is by invitation only.
Event sponsors are Carriage House Restaurant, Colonial Cooperative Bank, Mack Family Funeral Homes, Mount Wachusett Community College, People’s Fuel, Inc. and The Gardner News. This is an ongoing exhibit of various sized decorated artificial Christmas trees, each one with a special theme, along with wreaths, baskets, Vermont farmhouse, Victorian dollhouse and other items. The exhibit opens to the public on November 10 and culminates with a raffle on December 4 at 2 p.m. There are limited hours on December 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Coffee Social will be held on November 17 with a visit November 27 from Santa Claus and photographer. In addition to regular hours Wed. and Thurs. 1-4:00 p.m., the trees can be viewed during extended Museum hours on Fri. from 1-7 p.m., and Sat. and Sun. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Raffle tickets are $5, and include Museum admission for non-members.
